Lyrics
An evil and faithless generation seeks a sign
But no greater sign remains than Jesus, the ultimate sign
I am guessing that media outlets are weary
Of promoting fake miracle gatherings
For when we request that you validate your miraculous claims
No single person allegedly healed by you ever comes forward
Your testimonies are stories fabricated by your scheme of deception
Where's the person born with physical defects
Who ended up being miraculously healed by you
Let's have his healing verified by medical experts
Let him come forward for the examination
Let him also bring along at least one of his witnesses
When I was a student at the University of Malawi, Chancellor College
Our campus hosted many famous preachers in Malawi
Most of these men claim they have the power to perform miracles
However, no single student born with physical challenges
Ever got healed by any of these so-called men of God
These students, blind and unable to walk
Graduated just as they came
Where's the preacher with the power to perform signs and wonders
Is he blind to people in our cities who need his abilities
What exactly are we seeking
If Jesus Christ is not sufficient
We have no hope
For no sign remains greater than him
Let's seek first the kingdom of God
May Christ be our primary treasure
For only he can truly satisfy us
El Shaddai is no less powerful today than in the days of old
He hasn't ceased from answering our prayers
How come then we don't experience miracles
Like in the days of the Apostles
Well, the answer lies in the question
The period of the Early Church is not quite the same as now
For one, at that time
God was still giving his people direct revelation
Scripture was still in the process of being written
Therefore, God did many signs and wonders through the Apostles
To validate them as his heaven-sent messengers
Whereas we have the complete Canon
We're able to identify God's true servants through God's Word
Hence, we don't experience as many miracles as in past times
Toward the end of his ministry
Paul charged Timothy to ground his ministry on Scripture
He exhorted him that every minister is complete
Equipped for every good work with God's Word
Paul's emphasis was not on miracles
Romans one:16 says that the Gospel is the power of God
May this sink deep in your heart
The Gospel is the power of God
Unfortunately, most of us are superstitious
We have itching ears
We're busy accumulating teachers to suit our passions
And yet, Jesus Christ is sufficient
If he pleases
The Almighty God can do signs and wonders
However, most of the miracles we're witnessing today are fake
And may you not forget this
Not every miracle performer is God's servant
An evil and faithless generation seeks for a sign
But no greater sign remains than Jesus, the ultimate sign
