Lyrics
The bells outside ring faint and low,
While prison lights cast their cold glow.
No holly wreaths, no candle's flame,
Just steel and silence, always the same.
In Cellblock B, old Jimmy hums,
A carol soft beneath his thumbs.
His hands once caressed another man,
Now theyll hold bars beyond yuletides span.
Down in the yard, Big Jose walks slow,
His breath like smoke in the falling snow.
He talks of a wife and kids, he is a family man,
Too bad for them they were born Mexican.
Jennifer kneels by her iron bed,
A rosary clenched, a prayer unsaid.
Her eyes reflect a world she's lost,
Dreaming of voting despite the cost.
And here is Ari Cohen with pay-ote bold,
He fights back tears in the bitter cold.
His godless faith fades as night wears thin,
Wishing for warmth from kin within.
I watch them all, my heart fills with joy,
A guardian here , what a lucky boy.
Though freedom's far and joy feels rare,
I watch their hopes wither, everywhere.
Their misery is a special festive gift,
During my Freedom Camp midnight shift,
This prison holds freaks of all kinds,
The spark of Christmas, is still divine.
Praise Sweet Jesus Christ it is his day,
Merry Christmas is what White Men say,
Merry Christmas to me and also to you
Unless youre a gay, brown, black, girl or jew.
Praise Sweet Jesus Christ it is his day,
Merry Christmas is what White Men say,
Merry Christmas to me and also to you
Unless youre a gay, brown, black, girl or jew.
Its always America First at Freedom Camp. Merry Christmas!
