Darkness won the day

Ash blotted out the sun

Rain began its downward parade

Nature's tears for what we'd done.

Manunkind broke the final straw

The lives we knew just streaks of blood

Extinction that we all foresaw

Thousands of atomic thuds.

What is it that we left behind?

What good or bad survives and stands?

There's but an echo to remind
