Penguins are flightless birds with

Flippers designed for swimming

They mostly spend time at sea

On land they're always slipping

Their black and white coats serves as

Camouflage from above and under

Fish is their most important food source

All hunting's done in the water

Penguins in Antarctica have no land based predators

Once a year they moult and replace all of their feathers

They're stuck on land, and can't eat, for a few weeks

King penguins have four layers

Of brightly coloured feathers

The emperor can be as

Tall as 1.2 metres

They produce special oils

That they will spread all over

Which keeps them waterproof and

Allows them to swim quicker

The supraorbital gland filters salt from their bloodstream

As they ingest a lot of sea water when eating

They excrete, brine, from their bills, making them sneeze

The males often bring rocks as gifts to attract partners

They tend to stay monogamous and care for each other

Falling in love

They'll split the, parenting duties

Taking turns, to go get food

Which they share, with their family

Then cuddle up
