Lyrics
I remember playing in the sandbox back when I was a kid
Jumping off swings and running into things was all that I did
Playing kickball in the grass around our giant backyard
New lego sets and riding bikes down to the boulevard
But then one day I grew up and now just look where I am
I look around and realize I'm still surrounded by sand
I've got some slightly bigger toys and I wear grown-up clothes
But a couple things are different now and everyone knows
This sandbox blows
When I was little we had everything, the world on a string
I'd dig a hole for fun and see how many rocks I could bring
Pretending I was a conductor for the world's largest train
Or operating a bulldozer with my bro on the crane
And now the holes I dig are deeper with some much bigger tools
And all the toys I want to drive come with a book full of rules
And I was miserable last time I was surrounded by snow
I have to pay to ride a train even with nowhere to go
This sandbox blows
But every so often I stop and remember
A small glimpse of goodness that changed me forever
The sunset never changes even over the pond
The time and distance never break my friends inseparable bond
So even when it gets so hard I just want to quit
I remember who I'm here for
This sandbox ain't shit
