Lyrics
On June 12th of '24, Dorothy gave a little push
And soon was born their second son, George Herbert Walker Bush
It was Greenwich, Connecticut where he lived, and from Phillips Academy
George graduated in '42, and joined the U.S. Navy
He flew as a bomber pilot, was shot down, but he'd survive
And marry his love, Barbara in 1945
Soon, George, Robin, Jeb, Neil, Marvin and Dorothy joined the family
He finished at Yale, then, went to work for the oil industry
George Herbert Walker Bush
A modest man, he
Who stood up to adversity
From '67, politics caught his eye, 22 years, he would be
A rep, ambassador, chairman, chief, director, then, VP
In '88, George ran and won the race for president
The next year, January 20th, to the White House, the family went
Now, the 41st President, George witnessed the fall
Of the Soviet Union, Cold War, and the Berlin Wall
Had the military enter Panama, to take Noriega out
He helped stop the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, there is no doubt
George Herbert Walker Bush
A modest man, he
Who stood up to adversity
He said there would be no tax increases, but he went back on his word
And lost his re-election bid on November third
In '93, George left the White House, in Houston, he would be
And watch his sons, George and Jeb advance politically
But, he grew older, and Parkinson's progressed as the time passed
On November 30th, 2018, George would breath his last
His legacy was his skilled handling of foreign affairs
But, recession and new taxes brought the public and George despair
