And attended Harvard U

Then, joined the Navy Reserve

And was trained through '42

John commanded PT-109 in '43

A torpedo boat with 12 crew

To fight the Japanese

The boat was struck and sunk, and

John helped the crew to survive

They were rescued, and John

Healed and retired in '45

His father helped him to become

A Massachusetts rep

Six years, he served, then elected

Senator, his next step

At a party in '52, he met Jacqueline B

John dated her a year, and then they wed in '53

JFK, the 35th American president

He did his part to keep us safe

For the short time that he spent

Though Jackie struggled in childbirths, they built a family

They had two children, Caroline and John-John, but not three

In 1960, John ran against Nixon for the Prez

By a very slim margin, he won, for looks and promises

In 1961, John wanted Cuba's Castro out

A secret invasion failed, 'Bay of Pigs', the term they'd flout

The Cuban Missile Crisis nearly caused a nuclear war

But John forced Russia to remove them, till there were no more

It was in November, '63 in Dallas, when John died

His assassin was captured, but shot, so was never tried

They rushed his face onto the half dollar, where it still belongs

He inspired hope through his charisma

And desire to make us strong
