Lyrics
North Bend, Ohio, 1833
Benjamin was born to the Harrison's on August 20
He grew up, attended college, and in '52, was done
In '53, he wed Caroline
They had two children, Russell, and Mary, the next in line
Ben studied law, then, practiced till things heated up in '61
Was a commanding officer in the Civil War
A general when it came to an end
Went back to his law practice, was a great orator
Politics, his calling, said his friends
Well, he made Senator in '81
Then, in '88, for president, he chose to run
The race for the 23rd president, Benjamin Harrison won
Ben signed the Sherman Antitrust Act
But, Congress spent a billion for Vets and business, in fact
High prices from high tariffs, it was, that ended his presidency
He left the White House in '93
The year before, his wife, Caroline died from TB
In '96, Ben wed his niece, Mary, and had child number three
Ben traveled, lectured, wrote articles up to the last
But, pneumonia, he got in '01
At his Indianapolis home, on March 13th, he passed
Surrounded by his daughters and son
Well, his legacy's the steel Navy
Six new states, antitrust, monetary policy
Benjamin lived his life and served the nation with integrity
