Reaching

I'm tired of reaching for useless things when I should be reaching for truth

I'm tired of reaching to hold on to something real just to end up holding on to you

Cause I looked at this as a noble pursuit, now often I wonder if that's even true

Cause I would've gave anything, including myself if it meant I could be there for you

It's crazy to think I planned my whole life around you and putting a ring on that finger

Just for you to leave me with painful memories, it's not easier when I sing them

I can't forget them or the feeling of feeling like I was somebody different

Looking back now on your track record, I was just another statistic

After all

You cannot truly love someone who's just a source of validation
