Lyrics
I worked at a soup kitchen for a little while
It was chicken noodle every day
There was a guy that always came in
And we called him three hat man because
He always wore these three hats
But I never asked him why
It didn't seem important at the time
There was also a man that said I reminded him of his son
And then he asked me if there was dessert
But there was just chicken noodle
I had the feeling that the soup was a metaphor
But I never gave it much thought
A lady dropped her spoon one day
I didn't pick it up for her
And no one else did either
It stayed there for weeks
Eventually it was my last shift
And I thought I deserved a souvenir
But I couldn't pick it up
The spoon had melted into the ground
I wish I gave these things the thought that they deserved
Maybe one of these days
I'll pick up a shift at the soup kitchen
I think that would be good for me
