I arrived at the tree after a couple of hours

And I built a wall around it as high as the towers

I sought to protect where her memory remained

In the heart of the Gubberton, flowing through its veins

But dark came early as clouds thickly swelled

A wet smell in the air, a storm slowly quelled

The hair on my arms began to raise

And in an instant, the tree was set ablaze

Foolishly Hub Logic I decided to blame

As I fell to my knees and I cursed his name

Lightning arced through and singed every leaf

But oddly enough… I felt relief

Its core was scorched, and with it its brain

Our memories cleansed, we now felt no pain.

I stayed with the tree until it was healed

Its leaves were green again, and its wounds now sealed

The Gubberton tree, still standing tall

The keeper of life, of loss and of all.
