Death's Death Lyrics

This piece is a funeral reading

A rendition delivered when somebody dies

A group of letters to be rhymed while somebody cries

A composition, a story

Of how life was before something left

That's meant to touch the souls of people that he never met

Like all good stories, I guess I should start from the beginning

In a world saturated with darkness, sorrow, pain, sinning

lost people, lust pours, some would say a lost cause

Fast forward into destruction till God's love hit pause, a child born

God, in flesh and with flesh, he had a veil worn

But prior to this, a Virgin Mary had already been informed

That she was carrying the Saviour

Who would have connection completely restored between creator and created

And have creation completely reborn

Fast forward

He did miracles

Made the blind eye see

Lame walk, spoke once and he tamed high seas

He walked on water like it was completely frozen solid

Icy,

I'd be convinced the way that he spoke highly

He said He's the way, the truth and life, no other way besides me

The Pharisees didn't like that

Blasphemy, they said

And if a gun was made back then, they'd probably blast him in the head

You've made trash of us, they said

You've not heard the last of us, they said

We'll put him dead in a tomb the same way Lazarus was dead

Big mistake.

Fast forward.

Unjustly tried, beaten, battered and bruised

His trial publicized

Crucifixion all over the news headline

"Poser's finally caught it's time for him to pass-over, which makes sense

Because on the board they wrote King of the Jews

Spear in His side like a javelin

The disciples started panicking

Peter said, I don't know him thrice

And a cock started cackling

It was a spectacle,

Everybody hooked on what's happening

Son of Man hooked on a cross and He looked like He was grappling

Pause

They rolled dice over His garments

Threw stones, spat on Him

Used whips to sign Him like an artiste

Used whips to design Him like an artist

The same people He showed nothing but love had Him crucified

His own disciples sold him for silver just as He had prophesied

He dangled on that cross

He was thinking of you

Through the lashes, through the gashes

Through all He had been through

Hammered down with His hands as the nails went through

"Father, forgive them for they know not what they do"

Into your hands I commit my spirit

Then He gave up the ghost

But not before talking to a robber repentant saving his soul

People mourn

All worn and sky turned different hue

Earthquakes, ground shakes, veil turn into two

Indeed, blood and water don't blend

And the devil would have thought it was finally the end

But there was a sequel

He went down to hell and toppled every principality

Shattered every chain, cleared way and it was all for me

Battered every demon, broke the gates and then He took the keys

Make a mockery of Satan and defeated death's authority

He made a spectacle to make it crystal clear for all to see

That He was the Son of God and He was indeed divinity

He stayed in the grave three days just to make the beating thorough

Soldiers came, stoned moved away and they all just fell in horror

Mary came, saw two men

They were angels white the colour

He is risen

Pack your things, go back and tell the others

When He rose, we rose with him

Us in God, He did unite

It's pretty ironic how He died to give us life

A life eternal,

Life unkillable,

A life free of strife,

So we can never be brought down, try as they might

I said this psalm was a funeral reading

Because my every breath is a testament of the eternal life He gave us

And indeed, Death's death
