And maybe like me you'll choke on the crushings

Turn around or try to soar above

We mask ourselves as sure without any grounding

And I personally got tired of flying and of drowning

You're gonna search for roots

And sometimes settle for being grafted

I know now that God is good and cares about replanting

And I know that sometimes what we need is transplanting

And both things require uprooting

Which is uncomfortable

And can be frustrating

But God is gentle in his pruning

Even though cuts can lead to bruising

Some days you'll walk sometimes you'll fold

You've got a big brain but it won't answer everything

And faith works with reason

Sometimes reason reeks with insufficiency

Ask about everything

But make sure to ask in community

Honestly,

If there's anything I could have done better

It would be to make my struggle clearer

But also

I had no words and too many feelings

But God will leave you notes

In text messages and phone calls

And His love will break through your heart's ceiling
