green Lyrics

So I'm sitting in my dorm room

With my roommate

And we're painting

We used to do that a lot

We had these simple rituals that were good for the soul

So I pick up my water color paints yeah, because i wanted to do something that

I had little control over-

So I choose yellow and blue

So I'm painting a sun

And I guess blue was for the sky

But then I want to make the paper feel what my heart's been feeling

So I shake it around

Turn it upside down

And the watery paint starts moving

The colors start bleeding into each other

And it felt right

And a lot of times when something feels right i'm about to talk about it

Write about it

So I write a little poem

Feeling always the weight of the green

That unholy holy inbetween

When hope only kisses torment

And lingers

And yet you reach again

You reach again

So I wrote this in the middle of everything

Similar to wear this piece is placed

I was surrounded by ironies

And all of life felt like a color that was secondary

This weird and awkward Both and

I'd be feeling completely hopeless and full of hope in the same day

I'd be mad at God and lead worship the next day

and what was most helpful to me was that that was okay.
