Lyrics
My life used to be
Written for me
Spelled out with what to do
And who to be
I wrote two songs about it
But I'm not done
In fact
I have only just begun
Mormonism
Was my whole identity
Being a member
Brought me serenity
I lived in the bubble
Of a "peculiar people"
Learned how to be good
Under a church's steeple
I believed in using my talents
For the kingdom of God
I had to keep up
The church's facade
I took two years of my life
To preach the word
Cuz it was the right choice
My heart was stirred
Since rapping was my thing
I put it to good use
I wrote missionary raps
I bore good fruits
And when I came home
I made an album
Called "Chosen"
It was more than I could fathom
I released it alongside
"En Fuego"
I was proud of it
Did it stay that way? No
When I eventually
Woke up
From this Mormon haze
I had been dreaming of
I deleted that album
I was embarrassed of it
It was like it never happened
I didn't love it
But those songs are still
A part of my story
So I have them for you
In all of their glory
But here's the twist
After each one
I'll rewrite the song
They'll all be redone
I'll show you what I thought
In the original release
And then I'll switch it around
To show you my peace
From missionary to apostate
You'll still see me
I didn't change who I am
Just what I believe
I found out
My perception was wrong
Now It's time to end this prelude
And move to the first song
