I'm on a river in Virginia, headed down to Tennessee

Yeah I'm floating down the river, headed down to Tennessee

How come all these, bad, bad things always happen to me

Sometimes this old river, sometimes it ain't so clean

It's pretty dirty, now

But when they let loose of that Levee, it's the prettiest thing you've ever seen

I used to float it down, all them bugbears and me

Used to jive on the river, but now I've got to let them be
