Walking to the Country Store; I used to play there years before

Gone are dad and our home you see; now it's only mom and me

She works in Walmart; minimum wage; while I act up; teenage life's a stage

Sleeping in the car behind the mall, we're not just down it's a free fall

My boys and I need some cash, the downtown bar, there's always a stash

One fella's got a gun you see, but now it's just the cops and me

Stupid kid is all the judge said, change your ways or you'll end up dead

Probation for a year young sir, don't let me catch you 'round here again

Living was hard; growing up was harder
