Sometimes I sit down to write a new rhyme and something happens

I get overcome with dread and I feel like nothing matters

Nothing that I say will make a lick of difference

So I can't even get started with that initial sentence

I just sit with my head in my hands trying to think of some stuff

Feeling jealous of them rappers that drink and do drugs

Maybe if I were to drink til I'm buzzed

I'd at least be numb enough to ignore that we're fucked

And actually come up with stuff

I wouldn't call it writer's block

More like I'm in shock

Trying to comprehend why I thought I should even rhyme at all

There's people out here trying to survive

Who gives a fuck about a dude reciting rhymes

On his IG Live

The temperatures are climbing and the climates fried

Still they deny the Earth is dying for their bottom line

So they can keep their pockets lined

While we watch the decline

Why would you give a shit about even my hottest line?

There's people out here still fighting for their human rights

That's probably true for MOST humans unless you are White

And straight, and Catholic, American as apple pie

A stand-up guy willing to die for capitalist lies

I'm not that guy and never will be

While all this shit is going on, the thing that really kills me

Is I'll sit down to write some shit that's frivolous and silly

Some battle rap bars to try and get you all to feel me

Some goofy punchlines just to get you to respond

While I'm crying inside

At the much more important shit that's going on

So I pause, and I contemplate giving it up

Who gives a fuck about rap when just living is tough?

I put my pen down

Losing incentive

Feeling powerless, no use pretending

Then I remember that even if all I offer is entertainment

At least it is escapism for the people that crave it

A break from all the mayhem

The crazy and insane shit

That plagues every one of our lives on a daily basis

That's my only motivation to keep on creating

Providing you with some wisdom or some shit you can relate to

For now that is my mission

From now until I'm finished
