Elementary school was so cool for us

A friend sold me a Frankfurt pendant representing their team

That's the first chain I was rockin

In my hometown back then you would barely walk into

A brown skinned dude

I had some Middle Eastern friends

But the first black guys I ever saw

Were Jay Jay and Denzel Washington

This is my country

I was 13, my grandma passed that year I remember how they let the coffin down

That was around the time I started to write and record a song

Which I took out of existence cause I could tell I was missin

The vocab to express what I'm feelin

I started to distance myself from my culture and

I translated every word in the songs I played

Then I heard of Nas, Tupac and L and I forgot I didn't have a father then
