Lyrics
How many times have I been driven away by the moon?
Told to wave - warned to wave - though windows were tinted black
And the barrier of night lay as a split seam between the lighthouse and the shore
And I'd wave, sometimes from pious obeisance
Sometimes in search of genuine tethers
Sometimes I wouldn't wave at all, from petulance or some foreign air
I remember them all as a mosaic from afar
No small scene encompassing another
And none of them will ever be again
I don't remember which I did last
I don't remember goodbyes or love yous
I sent letters from afar, and that is best
I was never meant to speak
But sing what I and others wrote
And only write what can't be spoken
And only speak when I can't stop
And this is for you
But this is from me
A final wave past tinted glass
The long barrage of night
To the gilded light on wood and white
That leads to your silhouette.
