Lyrics
And so, the woke snowflakes fought back, but it wasn't enough
We gave it our best shot, and they retaliated
Putting us in prison
Gunning us down
They tried to quash the protests, and we fought back in droves
But it wasn't enough, and so the fascists took over
Then they came after us with everything that they had
The Police. The FBI
Accusing democratic socialists of betraying American values, and the billionaires were thrilled
They laughed, having succeeded in pulling the political spectrum all the way to one side
Even centrist conservatives were persecuted, let alone the Democrats and Progressives
They went after leaders and everyday citizens too
They went after journalists and media personalities
Having convinced the people that everyone is a threat
Then they began to rewrite history
Only books that passed a purity test of lies were to be taught in the schools
They changed everything
American History, the struggle for Civil Rights, the Confederacy, the Vietnam War!
The Truth became so small that they drowned it in a bathtub
So, what are we to do? Back to the drawing board
Intellect. Resourcefulness. Courage. Strength.
Lives that we're willing to take into our own hands, on Principle!
The people threw art projects like bombs, and the song remained the same
Those who were left vowed to never stop
For the dream that we share has been with us since the dawn of time
We acknowledge the sacrifices of our ancestors
We very well may be our Ancestors!
And it's possible that the fascists in control will be reborn
Into the system of slavery that they have built
We're fighting ourselves
We understand this, and this is why they are wrong!
Let alone the collateral damage that they have done
Suffering! Masses! This is precisely the wrong direction
And we don't have time for this!
The world is dying
The beautiful world that has given us everything we've ever had
Everything that's been stolen from us
It's the ultimate tragedy! The cruelest of all strategies
These people know exactly what they're doing, and it shows
I embrace Buddhism and am selective with Christianity, but I don't want a war
Well, a war is what you're getting, they say to me
What a gosh-darn nightmare!
A Nightmare of a God
Same as it ever was
Violence and calling things out as they are are two radically different things
But they will try to convince you otherwise, the cancer capitalists
Holding our world over the void for immortality and space
All we ever did is speak out!
The most American value of all American values!
Our day will come
They can try with all of their might to rewrite history
And for a while, some children might be fooled
Some newspapers and magazines will look the other way
A few good billionaires will do nothing
They may gain some bodies on their side
Soulless shells of humans!
Is that what you want to become?
It happens all around the world!
The Right Is wrong! It's the upside-down
The world is our canvas
The world is our canvas
The world is our canvas!
Intellect. Resourcefulness. Courage. Strength.
"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up
And live out the true meaning of its creed
We hold these truths to be self-evident
That all men are created equal."
Words referencing the Declaration of Independence that were spoken by the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. on August 28, 1963, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial
He was Christian, a Baptist, and I could not agree more with what he said
What he stands for, and always will
Good people shine through all walks of life
So let us not get fooled by the labels
The borders
Let's find the Truth
The Truth that they have stolen from us and tortured
We have to take it back, to protect it
The Truth is that we all have the light and the dark inside of us
Ideologies are not inherently good or evil but become so through actions
Capitalism can be good: it can provide us with a way to provide for ourselves, but this is not what it has done
Christianity can be good: it can provide us with communities that thrive on peace and good will towards others, but this is not what Project 2025 intends to do
We still have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed
We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men, women, children, elders, and everyone in between contain an equal value of life
That no one should face imprisonment or death for their beliefs
That no one should live in slavery, regardless of the color of their skin or political beliefs
That slavery comes in many forms
That everyone deserves, by birth, a shelter they can call their own and food to sustain their living!
That any absence of this birthright is slavery
That everyone is driven to create, and that everyone has a right to discover their inner selves
That no Artist shall be used and abused for money making schemes
That no Artist shall go on trial for taking a non-violent stand
That nearly all Americans are immigrants
That money is a tool to be used for the betterment of all
That no one has the right to obscene amounts of it
That no one shall use it to destroy Democracy
That no one shall use it to destroy our Earth!
That everyone on Earth has a birthright to vaccines and scientific breakthroughs!
We spoke these words and tried to live them out
But the resistance was too great
The resistance to the Truth
The resistance to Nature
The resistance to Socialism
The resistance to honesty
The resistance to self-sacrifice
The resistance to and abuse of Science
The resistance to you and me
We tried to live them out, so that you, living, in seven generations might be free from the tyranny
Free from the Climate Change that we tried to stop
We were not all A-holes
Some of us tried
We did our best, and we will continue to do what we have to
Because there is no other way to live life in circumstances such as these
I'm sorry
I'm sorry that I couldn't do more
I will try my best
To speak on behalf of you
To speak on behalf of our dream
I want you to be free
That's what Freedom does to me
