Seems like

It's not until I step out of the way that what's meant to be can be brought to light

It's not even any particular instance, so if you think I mean yours then you're probably right

It takes on so many different forms and literally happens ALL THE TIME

I'm not even suggesting that it's anyone else's fault or mine

I don't even know for sure if it's wrong or right

If I had to guess, I would most likely assume that God almighty has got it out for me

To make it hurt but not kill me 'cause He'd never tie the knot that tight

(Despite my protest)

I'm always the last layer of skin left to shed before the final form is revealed

Before the big play can ever be made, I'm always the last one off the field

I can only assume by that logic that my purpose in life is to just step out of the way

Let everyone else enjoy their moment and have their day

It's possible mine is still on its way, and I may not even be here when it finally comes

Unfortunately, the legacy of some is never realized until all of their work is finally done
