We've been walking for a mighty long time

I mean, I really am happy for you, it's just that

And it hurts because I know my time is coming to an end

And, despite our differences, you were always my friend

No one's ever been closer to me than you

No one will understand me the way that you do

I was scared for so long of accepting the truths

I almost didn't make it. I just knew I was through

But, you kept showing up when I needed you most

I ran so far away, somehow you were always close

Never too far behind, always finding me

I screamed and yelled at you, and yet, you didn't leave

And...I guess...I just don't know what to do

How can I keep going on without you

I don't want to be left behind

I wish I had a little more time

So in my last moments, my last few breaths

I want to tell you everything in the time I have left

I loved you, always have and I always will

You helped me find love in so many ways

And take off masks to reveal my true face

You taught me courage and how to be brave

I needed you just as much as you needed me
