My home was a place that the local neighborhood kids

Would come and gather to play basketball, listen to music, watch TV

Just a safe place to hangout

There they could find love, order, discipline, and support

There was birthday parties for some of the kids

My home was a very open home

And, I stopped writing

I didn't write anymore

I should've kept writing

That was a hard time for your momma (I know)

I miss the house down there (I do too)

Yeah, I just—I miss it

It was a beautiful home

And it was something we done together, your dad and I done together

But as Pastor Keith says

I think about Pastor Keith when we lost the house

I said "But people are gonna talk"

He said "Okay"

And I said "What do I say?"

He said "You tell them 'Life, Life happened, That's what happened, Life, Everybody go through things through life"

And that was it.

I said "Yep, You know, he's right. Life happened"

I just want to say that Gaynell and I been friends since we were 10 years old

We grew up together in Greenville, Mississippi right down the road

And we were together first time in the 5th grade

And then later on in the 8th grade

I lost a sister in 1975 to a bad case of pneumonia

I was real close she's my older sister but we were very very close.

And after she passed when school started back Gaynell saw me one day

She said "You don't have your—you're not smiling like you normally are"

And I just began to tell what happened

I lost my grandfather a year before in '74

And then I told her I said "You know, I'm mad at God"

She was like "Why you mad at God?"

And then I said "You know He took my sister

You know, and she loved me so much she loved me unconditionally"

And then Gaynell just began to talk to me saying "You can't blame God for that, you know life happens to everybody"
