Lyrics
There is narrow gate and few will find it
Though people wander far and wide
The path seems close and heavily restricted
And full of danger either side
There is a wide road many souls will travel
It seems easy, open, free
But in the end, it leads only to sorrow
And not the joy of life they seek
So I will enter through the narrow gate
Teach me how to walk the straightest path
And guide me Lord, that I might never wander
Till I am home and earthly things have passed
Oh Lord how long, I've longed to see your glory
Oh Lord how long, I've longed to see your face
Jesus help me not to be discouraged
By the Darkness of this place
The lives of those who walk the wider path
Seem free from hardship and disgrace
But I know the One in whom I trust
And I know their final fate
So I will enter through the narrow gate
Teach me how to walk the straightest path
And guide me Lord, that I might never wander
Till I am home and earthly things have passed
The gate is narrow and individual
Not as a crowd but each one makes his choice
The path seems hard and full of peril
But I'm guided by his voice
And then one day I'll enter into glory
And be at rest, lay all my burdens down
And I will sing, along with all the saints
And see your wounds and touch your thorny crown
And I will know, that all of life's testings
Were as nought, compared the joy to come
And all the sacrifice it took to get here
Will be well worth it when the race is run
And so my Jesus is the narrow gate
He's shown me how to walk the straightest path
His Spirit guides me that I might not wander
Till I am home and earthly things have passed
So thank you Lord that you see my burdens
Thank you Lord the path is not alone
Thank you Lord that many saints have travelled
Along this pathway to our final home
So I will try to live a life that's worthy
And keep my heart, from ever growing cold
And I will trust, that though the Lord may test me
I shall come forth, as fire proven gold
So enter in through the narrow gate
Few will find it but to those who seek
Knock and ask and to you it is given
And your joy will be complete
