You spoke a word into the darkness

The cosmos was born into light

The beginning of all of creation

The start of your perfect design

You called out the stars and the galaxies

The sun, moon and tides in their place

The orbits in perfect obedience

Your Sovereignty stretched into space

You called forth creation to know you

The sea, plants and trees, land and sky

Creatures that flew, swam, - slid, sung and ran

Etched in your mind before time

And then you looked at creation

Pleased with all that you'd made

And yet with all of the colours, species and life

You knew that one thing still remained

God of my working

God of my play

God of my resting

God of my strength

So you knelt down in the dust

And formed out the shape of a man

And in a great moment of intimacy

You breathed, and a new life began

And then his first day on the earth

He spent it resting with you

Then work began on your master plan

You gave him a job to do

And yet with all that you'd given

You saw that it wasn't quite right

And as a loving Creator

You formed out his beautiful wife

The pinnacle of all of creation

Entrusted to co-work with You

To rule over animals, land, sea and sky

Yet given the option to choose

God of my Sabbath

God of my week

God when I'm sowing

God when I reap

You commissioned them over the earth

To tame, plant, increase and subdue

To govern your earthly Kingdom

Ambassadors of Heavenly rule

Then in a moment of weakness

The two stepped away from your plan

They hid themselves, aware and self-conscious

A chasm between God and man

From that moment in Eden

A darkness spread over the land

A cancer so deep, so vile and unique

Threatened to ruin all you'd planned

Heaven looked down in distress

Yet Three seemed to know what to do

It wasn't unexpected or frantic, just sad

Yet they'd made allowance for this too

God of the seasons

God of the storms

God when I'm wealthy

God when I'm poor

And as our very kind Father

You pulled out the rescue plan

He looked at his Son, the time had now come

For God to once again walk with man

Humbly, He taught us to love

To accept, to honour and to trust

And when it came time, to lay down his life

He willing did so for us

A new way back was now open

To love, joy, relationship and peace

He gave us the Spirit, to counsel and guide

And a message of hope and relief

And so Lord, forgive us our sins

As we look to love and serve you

May your Kingdom come and Your will be done

Our lives lived with a Heavenly view

God when there's justice

God when there's pain

God when I'm healthy

God when there's change

God of the humble

God took the curse

God of the heavens

God of the earth
