Lyrics
I was living on the west side, west side
Now I'm living in the east, yeah yeah yeah
How it happened was a thrill ride, thrill ride
God is good to say the least, yeah yeah yeah
Now I'm in the house, used to be apartment
Wood floor interior, no carpet
Doesn't matter if it's east or the west side
Trust in Jesus not the cheese, yeah yeah yeah
Did a song about my prospects in real estate
It was kinda sad cause I wasn't feeling great
I kept focusing on what I could or couldn't earn
Had no clue that the tables was about to turn
But before I get too far, something you should know
Let me break it down for you so it's chewable
Don't want you to be jealous but to be encouraged
So you can withstand the wind and the stormy flurries
The truth is I can't stand rappers when they do this
Acting like they got it together and they the coolest
Cause if you ain't got it man something wrong with you
That's what it feel like if you can't do it like they do
But I'mma break my own rule cuz it's too important
Maybe I can help you learn just to trust the Lord and
He'll keep you sorted, on whether you should stay or go
And is He good? Pshhh, man you already know
I was living on the west side, west side
Now I'm living in the east, yeah yeah yeah
How it happened was a thrill ride, thrill ride
God is good to say the least, yeah yeah yeah
Now I'm in the house, used to be apartment
Wood floor interior, no carpet
Doesn't matter if it's east or the west side
Trust in Jesus not the cheese, yeah yeah yeah
The enemy, nah, he don't wanna see me flex
So lemme tell you how I made it back to PDX
When money tight they tell you to keep it razor sharp
But you ain't gotta be a star, just play your part
Cause if you ain't hittin' homers, no shame in first base
That's how I made it to the west in the first place
I was called into a season of ministry
After a year I moved, 'cause I caught the vision, B
Didn't feel equipped, but I was obedient
Kept the faith even when it wasn't expedient
Had to remember that all the time, right? God is good
Even though it didn't work out like I thought it should
Lost my job cause the ministry was shuttin' down
Had to pay my bills, so couldn't wait around
On my grind for awhile living day to day
But when the Lord said to jump, then he made a way
I was living on the west side, west side
Now I'm living in the east, yeah yeah yeah
How it happened was a thrill ride, thrill ride
God is good to say the least, yeah yeah yeah
Now I'm in the house, used to be apartment
Wood floor interior, no carpet
Doesn't matter if it's east or the west side
Trust in Jesus not the cheese, yeah yeah yeah
A season passed before I could even blink and in a
Jiffy God redeemed me and brought me back from the brink
And linked me up with a different family of faith
It wasn't no second chance, it was more like seventh or eighth, but I got
Plugged in and started doing my thing, and the
Sunday east side was my weekly commute
Writing songs with a vocal liquid flow, I could sing
But spending money on gas, just really didn't compute
And just then, got a hold of some friends
Told me that they had a place and we could rent it from them, and uhh
That helpful call was only scratchin' the surface
Pretty soon we'll have an option to finance and purchase
What a relief after a rough patch, and I ain't
Trynna count my chickens way before they done hatched
We got a lot of work ahead but yo I'm bein' sincere
We started with the Bonhams now we're here
I was living on the west side, west side
Now I'm living in the east, yeah yeah yeah
How it happened was a thrill ride, thrill ride
God is good to say the least, yeah yeah yeah
Now I'm in the house, used to be apartment
Wood floor interior, no carpet
Doesn't matter if it's east or the west side
Trust in Jesus not the cheese, yeah yeah yeah
