Lyrics
Have you noticed people these days describe God using parameters they desire He possess?
For instance
They describe Him as having
Borders they may cross
Abilities they can overcome and
Likes and dislikes that mirror their own
So as not to have a God they'd ever have to answer to
They say He's
Always loving, never allowing pain
Never allowing torrents of rain
To reign for any amount of time
Timing in sync with their every whim
Like a genie just waiting to escort wishes from their imaginations into reality
They want a god of their own design
Ignoring the grand design He's put in place
Ignoring His Majesty's majesty
They incorrectly and fervently
Use the mind given to them by God
To construct a construct
That God should then fit, in, to
Do you see the irony?
Do you see your irony?
We want God to be powerful enough
To control daily details
To line up life's dominos perfectly
And if they fall He should instantly
Run to the aid of our selfish, fragile hearts
Put the pieces all back in place
Yet, we demand He not be
So immensely powerful that we should revere Him
Do you see the irony?
This generation's description of Yhwh
Relegates Him to a lion in a box
Equipped with a doggy door
Through which He scampers
When a human in need
Blows a whistle referred to as prayer
Please
Let's put that namby-pamby
Good for nothing, because it is nothing
God, with a little g
To the side
Let's deal with the Real One for a few
He reached into the vastness of nothing and pulled out everything
He sprinkled rings around planets and didn't ask permission from you
He said Let light begin
And suddenly brightness became particles
Traveling at one hundred eighty-six thousand miles per second
Yet it doesn't break our skin
He made water soft, pliable, shapeable
Then walked on it like it was high grade steel
He creates storms then calms them
As Nicole C Mullins sung
He told the ocean You can only go this far
He plays with stars millions of times bigger than our sun
As if they're marbles in the hands of children
He's so wise that only He can see
How, only in a world where sin and death exist
Will we gain the strength to persist
He alone sees cancer leading to peace
Death leading to victory
Mockery producing stamina
Pain causing endurance
Tears giving way to joy
Back pain bringing praise to my heart
Where we see the slaughter of thousands
He orchestrates the salvation of millions
He sent ten plagues in reply to ten false gods
Giving an entire country a reality check
God in the flesh walked this earth in perfection
He boldly taught the supposedly learned
Schooling them with wisdom infinite
He sat among those He created
He stood boldly against the self-righteous
He stared down Satan in the wilderness
And didn't blink
Only He sees the pedophile become a preacher
The thief transformed into a police officer
He guides the deadbeat into true Biblical parenthood
He rained manna from Heaven
Foreshadowing His own arrival
He split seas
Drowning His enemies
So we humans may see
Who He is
He uses His enemies' tactics as tactics to His own Glory
A house built to destroy His Word
Is now used to spread God's story
Many who've tried to disprove Him
Now can't imagine losing Him
Church, we've been sitting on the benches
Much to our shame
It's time we get in the game
Let's destroy this namby-pamby
Distorted view of the Ancient of Times
Let's present, to a world that desperately needs Him
The Real One
