「定场诗」
白天坐,晚间卧,一餐能吃两碗多。
世态炎凉经历过,是非成败已看破。
对的是他,错的是我,争什么?
吴荻先生以「居士歌」“争什么”开场，开说唐僧师徒二人涤垢更衣清净上路，途遇六位强盗，正是眼耳鼻舌身意六贼。吴先生借此细说六根六境六尘，强调“主人公”等原文需着眼处，荐读《佛遗教经》，援引《杂阿含经》“杀六贼”语，重申西游大寓言。悟空杀六贼为三藏法师所斥，一怒弃师而去，谒旧邻东海龙王，观画引“圯上敬履”一段大典故，心猿剔透，转意回归师前。其时三藏法师才得观音菩萨亲传“紧箍咒”，自此唐僧得法降服心猿。
