Poundmaker and Big Bear, fought hard and hoped to win

At Wounded knee and Devils Lake, beaten by the hands of fate

And taken by the tides of time, like voices on the wind

Like voices on the wind they’re gone

So many love ones lost, and so few left to carry on no matter what the cost

And so that we will not forget, the dead that never sinned

Forever may we hear them sing, their voices on the wind

They camped there high above the plain, we stood there in their teepee rings

Where once they watched for enemy, a place they could defend

The Frenchman River far below, where once they hunted buffalo

We heard their war chant clear and high, their voices on the wind
