Under cover of night. Under cover of ravens and vultures. We are fighting for life. We are killing all men who oppose us. It’s a perfect symmetry and yet there’s no one here but me. There’s a reason to be scared. Face first on the ground, shut your mouth and bleed. The fear machine is feasting on our final nerves. We’re hanging on. Go and scratch at your itch. Sharpen your nails and tear out the stitches. Such a devious trick the way you make us forget that we are the victims. It’s a common misery and yet there’s no way to believe it. They are lying to your face. Face first on the ground, shut your mouth and bleed. Fan your blankets with fire, cradle children in flame, steely eyed like a soldier holding human remains. We are human remains. They rely on us dying. They just sit back and wait. We grow sicker and sicker.
