Mockingbird

Oh, the mockingbird he followed me from tree to tree

Saying, "You are nothing like what I think you should be"

And when his words would cut like daggers he would take no blame at all

See, the mockingbird knew nothing that could ever harm him

More than all the empty space left in his heart

And all the buckshot in the world could never break his fall

And when I trip on lowly branches

Then he picks on lower fruit to bring me down

And every day he gives no answers

Only offers speech so senseless and so loud
