So although we sunk and nearly let ourselves drown

We didn't let ourselves down our horizons shrunk

Never jumped ship or slumped slipped we just fell down

And couldn't rise above tides that tumbled when the bell sounds

Hell's mouth gaped wide mumbled platitudes

Made a backing tune that played our heart strings black and blue

Times I struggled through the rubble and the sands and dunes

Til I stumbled to the jungle where I collapsed and drew

New maps with new paths so sad they don't lead back to you

I truly hope you find your patch of land on any track you choose

They say nothing lasts forever I know that is true

That doesn't mean your past endeavours are all bad for you
