Semicolon

I was a writer, you were a painter but your brush spoke more words than I could write

I asked what's your secret, I said I could keep it but you said I'd want it gone by tomorrow night

It was no pressure, you were a treasure couldn't get you out of my sight

As I looked over, the scarf on your shoulder revealed a poem no one could ever write

I'm scared for you, that the weight on your back will turn into a dot

When it does, I'll be here, and I will try to be your rock

And when you told me the whole story, I felt like my soul had been stolen

Then you showed me, the bold ink in the shape of a semicolon

You were just perfect, I wasn't worth it but you gave me your time anyway

Told me I was just fine, I told you don't lie, didn't think I had any heart left to break
