A big black record is spinning ‘round on the table

Melodies are dancing all around

A big black bird is staring down from the rooftop

While the room is filled with ancient sounds

And memories of a long lost summer

That’s been turning to winter oh so many times before

The school bell rings like children’s laughter

And the old lady on her balcony

Knows what’s next, ‘cause she’s seen the rain clouds

And she knows the sky will turn ebony

Like the coffee cups and cream and sugar
