If I Were...

If I was a farmer's boy, wouldn't that be grand

To live in some small cottage and to work upon the land

To plough the land, to plant the seed, to make the crop to grow

And when the harvest came around to reap what I had sown

If I was a forester my life would be so free

My days would be as many as the leaves upon the tree

And before my sap was wasted I would take myself a wife

Oh for to be my comfort in the autumn of my life

If I was a sailorman, wouldn't I be bold

I'd sail the seven oceans fill my pockets full of gold
