Rendezvous

Sedna is a cold, dark desert

There is nothing here but stark rocks and seas of frozen gas

I roam the wastes, skate on the surface of a nitrogen lake, lay down and observe the endless sea of stars

I have failed, deceived by my own imagination, and now it's time for me to die, alone, farther from home than any Earthling has ever gone

My spacesuit radiates heat and I begin to sink through the solid lake, down, down I sink to the bottom in total darkness as my oxygen tapers off

Yet the deeper I fall, the warmer the substances around me become, the temperature rises as bubbles rise from the depths, and a strange red glow emanates from far below

Am I dead? Is this my brain shutting down for the last time?
