Highway of Life

My insides corroded, a rusted out shell, a vehicle of sorrows every dent telling its tale

My headlights can't pierce through the fog of my own mind

This highway is relentless, no exit I can find

My will to live is the fuel that I burn, yet the tank is nearing empty, less at every turn

My wheels continue rolling, my engine rumbles on, but the road ahead seems endless, will I make it to the dawn

In the transmission of life, every gear that I shift, clutches at heartstrings that have now begun to rip

My heart's beating engine, stumbling in regret, no exit sign in sight, no way out just yet

Don't know how far I can go, on this lonesome weary road, this voyage of melancholy penned on asphalt's cold scroll

Driving in the darkness, searching for the dawn, the journey's not yet over, my engine's growling on

Echoing the rhythm of my heart's lonesome tone, shadows cast their pallor on a life in monotone

Revving up the courage, striving to stay true, on this broken highway, will I find my way through
