Broken Words

It's hard to find the right words when you're broken

To speak truth from your heart and not as a token

Open wounds will heal but that don't help how I feel

In between yelling at God and being able to kneel

And it never seems fair, and it never will

Why the good gotta die and some continue to kill

To fight my rage, I let my tears soak up in the page

Trying to make sense before I reach old age

But here I am, feeling that hole that won't disengage

I ain't in no way afraid to say that I feel afraid

On a crusade for the sun in a world full of shade
