The Whisperer in Darkness

In the shadow of ancient hills under skies that never sleep I wandered

Through mist-shrouded woods I heard them the whispers

Not human Not earthly A language older than stars carried on winds from forgotten voids

Pinkish shapes moved in the darkness their wings slicing through the mist like razors of time

They watched They knew And I a fool dared to listen

Beneath the stars in a frozen sky in Vermont's shadowed woods I stray

Whispers weave through the ancient pines from realms a light-year away

Pinkish forms with their crawling limbs wings slicing through the mist

What lies beyond these haunted hills in the void's cold coiling twist

They whisper in the darkness from places we'll never know
