If I fall asleep let it be for a million years

I looked over the hedge and I found her lying dead

The tree on the water front, lying down, it's roots sticking up in the air

It said to me, "when years have gone, you'll be afraid"

The tree then made its peace, and turned to the shore where flocks of birds reigned

And over and over I called to him, but no words would he say more to me

Kneeling on the shore, I glanced at the sky, and felt the years pass over me

Then a wave crashed on the beach and, like the original sin, I cried over and over again
