A Letter For Mom

I remember the night you slipped away

Father woke me with a tear not knowing what to say

I was just a boy and couldn't believe it was true

I ran out to the other room and laid beside you

It was like you were just asleep as I held your hand in mine

But you were already cold and your soul was in the divine

I curled my little body around yours

And kissed you softly with a sadness that still endures

Everybody knew this time would come, we watched as the days went by

But I was never ready to say goodbye

The memories of you still shine like sunlight on glass
