Afraid of the Future

Hey, it's just me, didn't think that change would happen so quickly, like eight steps forward, but 10 steps back

Confusing myself for someone who I was before, innocent and curious to what's outside the front door, thinking that somewhere there was more

Objectively I knew less than I know now, but what if that makes life bleaker somehow

Cause I'm afraid of the future, head is spinning around and around and around and around and around

Maybe I'm not as pretty as I used to be, or my career will implode with time because robots put it on the line

Maybe I'll always be alone, waiting for that ringtone to end, but I don't wanna see what's around the next bend

Objectively I knew less than I know now, but what if that makes life bleaker somehow

Last year I wanted the time to pass, even though I knew that nothing lasts. Thoughts were so hard to bear, ones even I didn't feel I could share

But now it's gone, I can't get it back, lost it all and threw it all away, not saved for another day
