Oh Rose, how in prose could I explain?

Of all the words I've tried, so very little remain

To bear witness to feelings I've long had to hide

To lend reason to choices I've had to decide

Oh Rose, how it goes and how long it stays

Has never known to be predicted, it may just be a phase

Could I be just a friend to you, or something more I fear?

Or is it simply the presence of your company

And having something near that drives me mad

Oh Rose, we both know what is on your mind
