In a city stirring up dust, In a heart of steel where trust is a bust

Long for the quiet, the willow's sweet sigh, Beneath the clear, everlong sky

Concrete jungle seems like a cage, Yearn for the freedom that's beyond this age

Going back to serenity where the green fields grow, Where the river's gently flowing, where the west winds blow

Leaving the noise, the city's vanity, I'm headed home, back down to serenity

Remember back when summers in the soft cool grass, Life was simpler than the looking glass

City lights are blinding, losing my way, In the song of the country, my heart wants to stay

Going back to serenity beneath the weeping willow, Missing the old front porch, my head on the pillow

City, city skylines for old fraternity, I'm making my way back to serenity

Raiding skyscrapers for the towering trees, Exchanging honking horns for the humming bees
