Write What You Know

I have everything I need, I have good food and running water,

I am safe and my power's on

And I get to go to college and to have a pretty view

Of all the tents and the flags on the quad

They say write what you know, well I know reading news on Twitter and clenching up my fist

They say write what you know, I can't write on this.

When they ask me for a concert at the protest I say no,

Because my fury is incomplete

But it's also 'cause I sing to bring attention to myself,

And this attention is not for me.

I have never been robbed of the ability to be such a spineless pacifist
