North to Deadhorse

I wake up in South Arkansas, the sun's just breaking light

Kiss my wife and kids goodbye, I'm on that northbound flight

Three weeks up in Dead Horse, driving through the cold

Hauling heavy loads, but it's the way to being alone

I'm a thousand miles away from the ones I hold so dear

But I drive this rig through the frozen ice to keep them safe down here

It's a heavy price I'm paying, every mile that I roam

But I sacrifice cause I love them, and I'm bringing the money home

The oil fields keep me busy, but my heart's back in the south

I can hear my baby's voice and feel the kiss of my wife's mouth
