Goodbye, friends of mine, though I hardly knew you well

Since the day that I was born, I've lain beneath an awful spell

I know you're not supposed to look back, or at least that's what they say

But a voice inside keeps telling me, it wasn't meant to be this way

Goodbye, summer of '14, well these days I sleep with a knife

While the man in the high castle plays checkers with my life

When I wake up in the hospital, every new day will enlighten me

I've been friends with death for so long, what on earth could be left to frighten me

They are building brand new people now, they are starting it again

And we all know which one of us they're going to like better in the end
