And there were shepherds abiding in the fields nearby

Keeping watch over their flocks at night

Between Four and Seven B.C. God stretched out His hand

To put into motion His perfect redemption plan

In the land of Judea, during Roman antiquity

Right near the time of the Herodian Dynasty

For Caesar decreed a census to be done

So citizens would return to the town that they're from

A young Nazarene girl with a soon to be groom

Was told the Son of The Most High was asleep in her womb

Still a virgin too, but found favor with God
