Springtime in the city and the windows open up like pores

I can hear who's winning through the cracks in my neighbor's floor

But it's still so early, ain't nobody keeping score

I want more

And everybody's buying candles for their new front rooms

And the bus stop smells like department store perfume

And the hummingbird sings a car commercial tune

Through and through

It was a holiday weekend but I needed something from downtown
